So I asked:
Have you ever found something hidden? (valuable or not)
Or had a pet/animal steal something? :)
Almost 70 people answered!
If you're on the list below, I've already sent you the book through Amazon! If you didn't get it, let me know! :)
| Lori Anne | Many years ago, my husband hid away some Lionel trains. He had cut a hole out of the back of the pantry and hid them in there. We didn't find them again until we remodeled the kitchen. What a time he had going through those boxes after so many years! |
| Joy | When I was little, I found an Easter egg hidden behind a curtain. I wanted to eat it, but my mom wouldn't let me. This was six months after Easter & the egg had been on the windowsill. Good call, Mom! |
| Kris | My mom hid money in her underwear. After she passed, I found enough money that came within $3 to pay for her funeral bill, which arrived the next day. |
| Kate | Found a lot of things hidden as my kids were growing up ... such as after one of my kids went off to college, I discovered dirty dishes under her bed. REALLY????? (roll eyes) |
| Shelby | My house pig Hamilton will steal my slippers, my blanket, or my yarn while I’m crocheting. If he’s not the center of my attention… he will try to take whatever is my main focus at the time. |
| Melanie | When my daughter was little, her puppy stole (and ate) a $5 bill! My husband then played a joke on her, telling her she had to go clean up the hallway because her dog pooped, and it was just quarters he had laid out there! :) |
| Heather | I bought old lamps at a sale and later found a lovely necklace down inside one of them. |
| Sarah-Jayne | After I lost my mum to cancer, I found a key inside a compact ... but I still haven't found what it fits! I'm super intrigued!! |
| Alicia | I have found treasures throughout my life, but one that I find amusing is my Maine Coon. One day, a while back, he decided that our Dum Dum suckers are for his amusement. I have caught him running away with them in his mouth, where the candy part with the paper on is in his mouth, so it looks like he's got a sucker in his mouth. Needless to say, I had to hide them even though he still thinks they are his treats and treasures. |
| Laurie | Here is my story about finding something hidden! When my family moved into a new house when I was going into middle school, there weren't enough bedrooms on the main floor for everyone to have one. There was going to be someone who got put in the unfinished basement. Since I was the oldest and most independent, I was voluntold. It had a drop tile ceiling, and I quickly discovered that it was a great hiding place for anything I didn't want found. Along the way, I discovered that someone else must have done the same in the past. I found old magazines, some jewelry, and even someone's illicit substance! I naively did not have any idea what that was, but it smelled gross to me, and I threw it away. I never did tell anyone anything I found! |
| Michael | My dog stole my slippers, once. |
| Elaine | The Kane County park district has hidden glass and ceramic orbs and we've loved hunting for them and finding them for the past couple of years. They are beautiful, and you get to keep one per year if you are lucky enough to find one. |
| amy | My dog likes to steal my kitchen towels |
| sandra | Yes, coins |
| Michael | Message in a bottle hidden on a beach once. |
| Nancy | I found a necklace. It wasn't valuable, but it was nice |
| Karen | Original document from when my parents bought our house from my grandparents. |
| Lois | I tend to lay things down without thinking about it. I also tend to be a Clutter Queen, creating piles (usually paper), so things may get covered up. Hidden? Oh yeah. With luck, I may even find it! |
| Kera | My dog steals stuff all the time. She steals my socks and my underwear |
| Tanya | I didn't find anything valuable, but I used to help a friend out at a bar he owned, being a bouncer. I was helping clean up one night and found a $100 bill |
